10/10-10/16/2010

So, this week went a little like this.  Landlord gave permission to rip out the rugs, I rip them out, landlord takes that permission back, I can't put them back, landlord becomes a little upset, I don't give a #$%^.  When I do wrong in my life I feel a little remorse.  I can't lie because my conscience eats me alive.  So, for some reason when we were 'getting in trouble' I had no remorse, I did not have a guilty conscience and I think it stems from the fact that I didn't do a damn thing wrong.  Looking at the picture, I have a zillion and one things going on in my everyday life, why the heck would I waste my time and ENERGY on ripping out someone else's carpet when they aren't paying me to do so UNLESS they gave me permission.  You see where this story leads.  Anyhow, we spend late Saturday & Sunday as well as part of Monday ripping up gross carpet and pulling tacks and nails.  The floors underneath this disgustingness (my very own word!) were beautiful.  There were definitely some places that need to be patched but we didn't care and I think our LL felt a little better knowing that we were happy to live with whatever was underneath.  Our house is like a new house and smells like one too!

Can you BELIEVE the difference that taking out that old rug made?  (Technically the rug was only 5 years old but I wonder how long it sat in the store for since it was a style for the 70's.)

I'm now on the hunt for a cute area rug to add some color and bring some life into our home!

Let me tell you why I asked the landlord if we could rip up the rug, it didn't at all stem from the fact that came in first in the running of ugliest rug.  Ever since I moved here ever morning that I woke up my nose would be running and I would sneeze my head off.  I would often get bites all over my body that hurt and itched like crazy constantly.  I was the only one who ever got these bites and they made me absolutely miserable! I was convinced it was the rug that was causing all my problems.  I guess we'll see in a few weeks.  But, as you can see the debris under the rug and the MILDEW that was in the spot leading out toward the kitchen.
BTW...even when I showed him this photo he didn't believe it was a problem. I just had to let this whole conversation slide right off my back. Something that is REALLY HARD for me to do if I'm certain I'm correct.

Sutton and I headed downtown LA with Romy and the boys to see Nickelodeon Live.  This photo is absolutely awful but I was working with my cell phone!  It was a super cute show and Sutton loved it.  It ended with a little lunch out and arrived home with some sleeping but happy campers!

I'm FINALLY back and running this week. That cold did some major damage to my respiratory system.  I'm running my 13.1 on the 24th and I don't feel ready.  I had a HUGE setback having to take 3 weeks off but no matter what I will push myself to run!  Where there's a will there's a way and I'll find both!
