MERRY CHRISTMAS!
It's probably the one day in my children's lives that they've listened to me when I said don't get up too early.  Seriously, I was up at 530am.  I set up the video camera, put breakfast in the oven, made coffee and snuck back in bed and waited for little footsteps...and waited, and waited, and waited!  Finally after an hour of video footage of the pitch black and the smell of coffee burning a hole in my soul I couldn't take it anymore.  I got up, erased and started the camera again, made myself a cup of delicious coffee and waited some more.  Scott ventured out and made himself a cup and then we sat in silence at the kitchen table drinking our hot coffee and WAITING.  Until, I couldn't take it anymore again!  I had to go and get them!

So, when I went in and said, 'Hey...it's Christmas, are you guys going to get up today or what?!'  Chantz says to me, 'Well, mommy you sad not to get up TOO early!'  Since when is 630am too early for them? I was referring to the too early like the 230am wake-up they had earlier that morning when Chantz got up to go to the bathroom only to realize that Santa had been there and left a present on their beds when he checked if they were sleeping (tradition I totally forgot to mention).  Which from his excitement woke up Sutton, who was screaming that he couldn't see it.  We had no clue what was happening so Scott went in but the screaming didn't cease.  So when I finally got in there because honestly I thought someone was hurt or sick I was greeted by, 'MOMMY, WOOK!!! THIS IS SOOOOOOOO TWOOL!  SANTA WEFT US A PWESENT ON OUR BEDS!'  Cute yes, 2:30am cute, absolutely not!!!!  I then replied 'Yes, so cool but if you don't go back to sleep Santa might return and take it back or he may not leave one here ever again!'  Santa should really contemplate that tradition!

So, there it is, Christmas morning 2010 in a nutshell.  Didn't take them long to fall back asleep at 230AM and didn't take them long to high tail it down the hallway once they were given the go ahead at 630AM!

**Note...We never rush Christmas!  We oooo and aaaaaa over the presents as we get them.  Take them out to play with them on the spot and this year we added a personalized video taping to send to each person when they opened their present from them.  This could have gone really, really bad but thankfully it went really, really good.  Since we don't have family here it was a really fun way for us to share our Christmas with all!  Hope everyone loved their little video as much as we liked making them!  So...Christmas starts early in the Powers household and lasts most of the day!

Some day they'll regret all these crazy faces.  These photos will reappear at some point in their lives!

Even Mya was feeling the love from Santa!  A whole stocking full of rawhide bones, Trader Joe's organic treats and a brand new bed!  Thank goodness Sutton made a personalized list for her too!

Gotta have a gift shot or two!

How SUPER excited they were to give us their presents!  Scott got a brand new, super duper fabulous...ALLIGATOR HAT from Sutton.

Along with a SUPER DUPER COOL Paint a Bank from Chantz!  Chantz said he wanted Daddy to do some arts and crafts with him and this was a cool place for all his change that he has lying around.  Not sure what was Sutton's reasoning but there's a lot times we don't get his reasonings we just appreciate the way he is!

When you love your present you can just stop, drop and play where ever you are!

Although Christmas day brings presents and a whole new world of fun we always remember to be thankful.  Thankful that we are a happy & healthy family, thankful that we are surrounded by people that we love, thankful that we have life's basics, thankful that in our world we have the capacity to be thankful.  I am so very thankful for all I'm blessed with it's so very hard to put into words!

Merry Christmas to all, we hope you, too, can be so very thankful.
